Barkann’s broadcasting career spans from local network beginnings to national platforms, including coverage of the U.S. Open Tennis Championships for nearly 20 years and reporting on multiple Winter Olympics for CBS Sports.

Professional Background​

Michael began his career with NBC News in Washington, D.C., and went on to work as a sports reporter and anchor at KYW-TV in Philadelphia before serving as sports director at WLVI-TV in Boston. Returning to Philadelphia in 1997, he helped launch Comcast SportsNet and has since hosted flagship programs including Eagles Pregame Live, Eagles Postgame Live, and various Phillies, Flyers, and Sixers shows. He’s a multi-Emmy winner and seven-time Pennsylvania Sportscaster of the Year.

In addition to his broadcasting work, Barkann and his wife co-founded the Barkann Family Healing Hearts Foundation, which provides support to families facing tragic circumstances in the Delaware Valley.
