Position Profile: Financial Planning Analyst

The human-first approach (via disease modeling using organoids) to pre-clinical drug discovery and development coupled with advanced analytics and ML/AI is driving the renaissance created by the intersection of new biological discoveries (e.g. induced pluripotent stem cells, gene editing, low-cost whole genome sequencing) and technical advancements in software/hardware (e.g. AI/machine learning, Data Science, Computer/Processing). The Company is on the clinical path with several novel biological models, active drug screening efforts, and a focus in neurological diseases including but not limited to neurodevelopmental/ degenerative disease and cancer.
THE POSITION
As a result of this merger, the Company is seeking a highly-motivated professional to develop and lead the corporate FP&A efforts and will be spear-heading the Company's financial quarterly forecast, annual budgeting process, operating plan variance analysis, revenue and accounts receivable analysis and special projects. S/he will provide financial consulting and strategic support to senior management including preparing board presentations, financial presentations, capital expenditure analysis, industry/peer group comparisons, new business opportunities, acquisition analysis and other projects requested by senior management. This function acts as the analytical engine of the entire company to provide insights and support 'optimal' business decision making. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer. The position will be located either in Company's New Jersey headquarters or Maple Grove, Minnesota facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop monthly financial operational reporting packages including Key Performance Indicators ("KPI's")
- Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including all areas of revenue, accounts receivable, cost of sales, expenses, EBITDA and capital expenditures
- Monitor KPI's, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance
- Oversee and manage the continued development of Budgeting, Financial Forecasting, Operating Plan and Modeling tools
- Ad-Hoc Reporting and Analysis
- Quarterly and Monthly Financial reports with analysis of operating results and KPI's
- Improve performance by evaluating processes to drive efficiencies and understand ROI in marketing programs, menu pricing, as well as new projects
- Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives
- Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes
- Develop capital expenditure ROI model for analysis of capital expenditure decisions
- Supporting Senior Management Team and Departments heads with in-depth analysis of operating metrics
- Prepare presentations to Board of Directors and Senior Management Team
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance;
- 5+ years' experience in Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis; biopharma (laboratory) industry preferred
- Experience in company merger transactions strongly preferred
- Strong leadership skills and organization are required
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills are a must.
- Highest standards of accuracy and precision
- Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to think creatively, highly-driven and self-motivated
- Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity
- Preferred - experience with predictive analytics and data visualization tools such as Tableau, Qlikview, Spotfire, Power BI
