Donald Retreage is the CFO and Senior VP for Lightpath Technologies, Inc., headquartered in Orlando, Florida. With a transparent leadership style that is popular among employees, Donald’s track record for improving employee engagement is a hallmark ability. In collaboration with his team, Donald most recently repositioned cashflow and saved $2.1 million annual by relocating logistics and operations from New York to Orlando while increasing reporting and forecasting transparency to the Board of Directors. This work is a testament to his commitment to due diligence and regulatory compliance.
His efforts also led to a projected 20 percent growth for 119 job units while improving profitability by $700K in the first nine months in the position.
In his role as CFO and Managing Director for Seaboard Corporation, a Fortune 500 company with 25,000 employees, he led the financial and accounting functions for more than 85 national and international branches while concurrently managing corporate operations in Nigeria.
In fact, he achieved $30M in turnover savings by securing local government assistance with tax holidays which ultimately heightened shareholder confidence in the company’s sustainability. Donald is also known for creative problem-solving, and saved Seaboard $9.8M by reducing markup on raw material by renegotiating with internal and external vendors for better prices.
Earlier in Donald’s career, he played a key role in opening international markets for Universal Ogden Services (Sodexho) by integrating the $18M Sodexho (the acquired company) in Venezuela. He uncovered a lucrative $22M market opportunity and spearheaded expansion into US military operations in Haiti, Bosnia and Kosovo, working with major stakeholders to provide food and logistics services to the US, United Nations and international peacekeeping forces during a difficult time in the regions’ history.
During his tenure with Universal Ogden Services, he also grew revenues to $60M in Venezuela capturing 60 percent market share with multiple locations world wide by leading this start-up in South America while building the business in Brazil and Chile for 18 oil rigs growing the Brazilian branch to $18M and 35 percent market share.
Donald’s remarkable efforts garnered a Preferred Vendor Award from the US Department of Defence for Operation Democracy in Haiti and Somalia and IFOR in Bosnia & Kosovo.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in finance, accounting and economics from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, along with training in Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and Export Compliance Training. He is a member in good standing of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and is a Training Specialist and Volunteer for the Income Tax Assistance and Tax Counseling for the Elderly. He is also a qualified member of the AARP.
Throughout his career, Donald has also served companies in the logistics industry, business services and food services where he was engaged to turn businesses around for oil rigs, schools, mineral mines and prisons where he drove both sales and profitability while building lasting relationships with employees and customers. His senior leadership team has repeatedly recognized Donald for his unwavering commitment to protecting company assets during extremely challenging situations around the world.
Donald is married to Lisbeth and is the proud father of six children, two of whom are in the US military. Also considered a road warrior, Donald has found adventure by fishing off the coast of Angola, West Africa for kingfish and fishing off the coast of Sierra Leon. He also enjoys jet-skiing and sailing in off the cost of Sierra Leone and Belize in the Caribbean Sea. Additional hobbies include sailing, tennis, racket ball and Taekwondo.
