Carmen Carson joins the AchieveNEXT DEI team as its Human Capital and DE&I (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) Specialist where she will focus on advancing organizations' Human Capital efforts through a full cycle of talent acquisition, development, engagement, and retention strategies with a DE&I lens.

She will also help spearhead our DEI solutions alongside Managing Director, Robyn Pollack, Esq.. Together, they will work with our clients and partners to strategically focusing on employee belonging, strengthening their corporate brand reputation through internal and external promotion of diversity/culture initiatives that support their mission, and developing leaders as they work to create inclusive and equitable work environments.

As a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, Carmen attended the University of TN Chattanooga as a Brock Scholar. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Ecology Child and Family Studies in 2003. She went on to earn a Master of Arts in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee Technological University in 2007.

With over 15 years of organizational leadership, Carmen brings a plethora of experience in nonprofit and education leadership, human capital solutions, and executive coaching. Her work in education has focused on training and development for teachers as well as addressing the educational disparities of first-generation and low-income students through her work with the University of TN at Chattanooga TRIO programs. In her most recent work as CEO of a Chattanooga-based nonprofit and as the Human Capital Coordinator for Hamilton County Schools, she led full-cycle recruitment efforts that have resulted in the hiring of over 100 individuals in under 12 months. 

Additionally, as a successful entrepreneur who has consulted with businesses and nonprofits throughout the US, she has a penchant for process improvement, creating diverse and inclusive workplaces, and partnering with leaders to create systems that improve organizational effectiveness.  

Carmen, a proud military wife, is married to SFC. Antoine Carson who recently retired from the US Army, and works with first-generation college students through the TRIO Student Support Services at the University of TN Chattanooga. Antoine and Carmen are both passionate about working to create inclusive spaces, opportunities, and pathways for success for individuals and organizations.
